"Hanna K r a j e w s k a, Archives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands — the past and the
present. The author provides basic information on the history, structure, and the holdings of
the Netherlands Archives, gathered during her stay in Holland. The National Archives in the
Hague and 11 archives of the capitals of individual provinces are the most important ones in
the hierarchy of archives. The State Archives Service operates as well. The national holdings
include documents from the Royal Cabinet, from the First and the Second Chamber of the
Parliament, from central ministries, and state institutions of former colonies. The State
Archives Service of the Netherlands takes care of more than 158 kilometers of records. Most
of photographs and films are kept at Information Office of the Netherlands. Archives are in
the possession of directories to holdings. The Association of Archivists of the Netherlands
has been actively operating for more than 100 years. The Association issues a scientific
periodical entitled ,,Archievenblad”. Archivists receive professional training at the postgraduate,
one year´s state school. The network of archives is subordinated to the Ministry of Education,
